Facebook rules

As many people know already, Facebook are updating their guidelines around music from October 1st, and as Facebook and Instagram are owned by the same company, I expect these guidelines also apply on Instagram.
These guidelines are stricter about what music is and isn’t allowed to be uploaded in videos. Mostly this is regarding music licensing and copyright, ie you can’t upload music which you don’t own the rights to.
What does this mean for me and other musicians? It mostly applies to using the original recordings of songs, or backing tracks, but short live recordings of covers are ok (I think!) So the majority of the videos I’ll be sharing from now on will be via links to my YouTube channel youtube.com/lisadawsonmusic
And if I do share a video here on Instagram and it is removed or muted, you’ll know why! https://www.facebook.com/facebookmedia/blog/updates-and-guidelines-for-including-music-in-video
